Our answers

That’s where professionals come in handy: A doctor or a nutritionist will be able to give you advice on how LUVE products fit into your diet.

Corinna R&D

Usually, you have nothing to worry about with our products. However, if you are breastfeeding or pregnant, you should talk to your doctor or a nutritionist for expert advice and to rule out any risks, such as an allergy to sweet lupines.

Stefanie R&D

In rare cases, infants and young children may not yet tolerate sweet lupines. Therefore, we recommend including LUVE products in the diet only from the age of 3 years. For detailed advice on ‘vegan nutrition for children’ and ‘allergens’, please consult your pediatrician or a nutritionist.

Stefanie R&D

Yes! Whether for baking or cooking, LUVE Drinks can be heated just like cow’s milk. And by the way, the Barista Drink can also be foamed perfectly, e. g. for cappuccino.

Friederike Marketing

Sweet lupines, like wheat and soy, are among the allergens that require labeling. The allergy is not widespread, but allergic reactions can occur, especially in people who have a cross-allergy to other legumes. Peanut allergy sufferers who have a cross-allergy to lupines and other legumes are particularly affected. Allergists estimate that about half of the people who are allergic to peanuts also react to lupines. If you’re not sure where you stand, it’s better to get an allergy test from your physician. All other traces of allergens that may be present in some products are marked on our packaging.

Sure, just like with dairy products, you can use our products for cooking and baking. The only difference is that the protein may flocculate in dishes with an acidic pH value. However, this is only an optical reaction and not a sign of a spoiled product. Just follow the instructions in our recipes, and you’ll be totally fine 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Friederike Marketing

They are, because all LUVE products are completely vegan 🐄🚫

Are your products lactose-free?

We do what we’re really good at – for everything else, we’ve teamed up with reliable partners. The sweet lupins, for example, are grown and harvested by our partner farms in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Our area of expertise is the extraction of lupine protein isolate (LPI), which we use as the basis for our alternatives to dairy products. Then, we hand over the final manufacturing of the products to our valued allies 🤝

The most reliable information is always provided by a doctor or nutritionist, as they can personally get to know you and your needs. However, our product pages provide valuable information about the ingredients we use.

Stefanie R&D

As long as sustainable alternatives make the world a little bit better, we will also be planning new products. What products we come up with, depends on your feedback, food trends, and great ideas. Especially those that have the potential to revolutionize the display of the cooling shelves step by step. Do you have product ideas you’d like to share? Get in touch 🤗

Corinna R&D

Our star of the show: the sweet lupine 🫶 Unlike other vegan alternatives, such as soy, oats, rice, etc., we can extract the lupine protein isolate (LPI) from the sweet lupine seeds. It’s super high in quality and neutral in taste and smell, that’s why we can easily reconstruct the taste of dairy products. Isn’t nature wonderful?

Corinna R&D

They can’t be any more vegan than this. By the way, LUVE stands for LUpine + VEgan – so rest assured that all our products and ingredients will always be vegan ☝️

Nicole QM

Lughurt goes with good vibes, with your new boy- or girlfriend, and your outfit of the day. But most of all, Lughurt goes with cereals, dressings, dips, sauces, cakes, and so much more. And even if it goes solo, Lughurt always hits the spot 🤤

Sabine Marketing

That absolutely depends on the where and when:

Morning: coffee + LUVE drink = pure love
Brunch: Streichglück for the win!
Lunchtime: nothing cooler than LUVE Ice cream
Evening: A Dessert to top off the day
And all day long, there’s room for Lughurt, Lughurt, Lughurt!

But hey, do as you please.

Paul CEO

We grow our sweet lupins in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – just follow the horizon of purple flowers. This is also where they are being processed. Then, the protein we extract from our super seeds travels to our partners in central and southern Germany as well as Switzerland, where it transforms into Lughurts, Drinks, Desserts, Ice cream, and Streichglück ✨

Availability

Your questions
Some supermarkets that can be found in the Storefinder do not have LUVE products. How come?
Where can I get LUVE products?
Our answers

We do our best to keep the Storefinder up to date. However, we can’t register and map stock updates or short-term developments in the supermarkets’ assortment. That involves just too big of a communication effort. But hey, no big deal: Wherever you are, our online partners will be happy to supply you!

Manfred Sales

In many German supermarkets, our vegan deliciousness has already found its natural habitat. Just check the Storefinder and find a supermarket near you. Or go digital: These online shops also have LUVE products. And in our very own webshop, you can conveniently order our Drinks to your home.

Sustainability

Your questions
What is your packaging made of?
Why aren’t many more producers using the sweet lupine as a vegan alternative?
What makes LUVE so sustainable?
Our answers

Our packaging consists of recycled cardboard and recyclable raw materials, such as paper, plastic, and aluminum, among other things. It meets current food safety standards. From the very beginning, it was important to us that not only our products but also our packaging go hand in hand with high sustainability standards 🔄

Annette Supply Chain

They absolutely should, because the sweet lupine is one of the best things that could happen to the planet from a nutritional point of view. But easier said than done: We’ve spent almost 30 years in research until we could use the sweet lupine as a real alternative to milk. 👩‍🔬🧑‍🔬

Why aren’t many more producers using the sweet lupine as a vegan alternative?

It all starts with the sweet lupine. We grow it locally in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The unique thing about it is that it’s very frugal in terms of sun, water, and nutrients. It also uses fewer resources than cow’s milk and vegan alternatives made from soy, oats, almond, etc. In addition to that, it takes nitrogen out of the air and improves the soil. We also make our packaging plant-based from renewable raw materials. Learn more about what makes the sweet lupine so sustainable.

The sweet lupine

Your questions
Is it true that bees love sweet lupines?
Can I eat any lupine?
Why is the sweet lupine so unknown?
What makes the sweet lupine so special?
Is the lupine more than a trend?
Our answers

Yes, love is in the air. Bees and bumblebees adore their nectar-rich blossoms 🐝

Friederike Marketing

It’s true, their purple appearance looks appetizing, but the plant itself should definitely not end up on your plate. Only its seeds are edible, and they usually are processed into other foods. Under no circumstances should you eat the seeds of a wild lupine raw, as they contain poisonous bitter substances. The seeds of the sweet lupine, on the other hand, are edible and come with a fantastic nutritional profile 🏅

Jonathan Sales

The wild varieties of the lupine contain bitter substances that used to have to be boiled or washed out. It’s only since the 1930s that the sweet lupine, which is poor in bitter substances, has been cultivated. For a long time, the cultivation of cash crops, such as rapeseed or cereals, was also more lucrative for many farmers. Since 2015, however, cultivation has been on the rise again. With LUVE, we’re on a mission to ensure that the good reputation of the lupine reaches as many fridges as possible 📢

Why is the sweet lupine so unknown?

The sweet lupine can be grown sustainably in Germany, and its seeds provide high-quality protein. The lupine protein isolate (LPI) we produce enables us to develop alternatives to dairy products that are incredibly similar in taste and consistency. Learn more about the unique features of the sweet lupine here.

Jonathan Sales

Trends come and go, the lupine stays! It has already been around for 3,000 years. Today, it’s our mission to ensure that the sweet lupine and its unique talents become even better known, even more popular, and even more present on the cooling shelves.
